Working Hard Filming in Mainland
Happy to Achieve Support from Audience
24th September 2006

These few years I’ve been frequently returning to Mainland to film series, and have filmed A Step into the Past, Twin of Brothers, Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion, The Master of Tai Chi, The New Breath of Love and others. From filming ancient/period to modern dramas, I have been given many opportunities from many people and that can definitely make a person mature a lot. I can say that I’ve received many benefits.

Twin of Brothers was the toughest yet. The weather was too hot and wearing an ancient costume and walking around turned me into a water person, sweaty all over. The worst is that the colour of the accessories on me started fading from all the exposure to the sun. You can already guess how hot it was. And how did it end up? I didn’t get a stroke, but instead got sick and had to wear a water pack to work. Did I consider giving up, returning to Hong Kong and enjoying the air conditioner? I can say one word, no! Maybe I have a bit of a “try to do better than others” personality, plus the character was one that I liked and the producer also thought that I suited the role. Also, every person must have his own experiences. After working hard, that is when you’ll grow up. If in your heart you want to pass this level then there’s nothing you can’t do and the other matters won’t seem as much!

In the end ancient series are still the more popular ones amongst the Mainland audience. I was very lucky to have so many more people recognise me after that time. After getting a chance to act and working so hard, I was happy to see some results. I know that there are some people who dislike returning to Mainland for work, thinking that it’s very constraining and that filming would take a long time, but in actual fact, this is a very good chance for improvement. There are more workers in Mainland than Hong Kong, you don’t have to go through the trouble of worrying about other things; all the jobs are divided very clearly. You would only have to concentrate on acting the character out well. Absently, your dedication grows and so does your acting skills.

The only thing that is bad out of the goods is that working in Mainland for such a long time, I would get a little worried that the Hong Kong audience’d forget me about. But there’s nothing I can do about that. Every time a series is aired I cannot be there to enjoy the triumph, I have really missed out on a lot of things. Luckily this year I’ve organised with the crew, and as soon as I have time I would return to Hong Kong and join in with the promotion. Even though it’s very exhausting, but when I hear the audiences at the functions, on the streets continually yell out the character’s time, it brings a great sense of satisfaction and understanding that these few years’ homework hasn’t been given in for nothing. Everyone has watched it, and here, I really have to say thank you.

The Beehive thanks ...
Fung's Label, Raymond's previous official website and its webmistress, Sasa, for providing so much of Raymond's news and information. Without FL, many of Raymond's fans would've been like little losties, without any clue as to where to find Raymond's news. FL kept us informed and updated for a total of 2 years. It officially closed on the 21st August 2006, but I would still always remember it.

52raymond.com, also known as the Lam House. It was my source of Raymond's media. The fans there updated new clips or songs of Raymond's very quickly. It was a brilliant forum, a true home to Raymond's fans. It officially closed on the 1st September 2006, but I would still always remember it.

Vickie. She's my beautiful Net friend with a strong command of the Chinese language and very frequently she helps me with translations. She's also excellent when it comes to graphics and even though I haven't actually used any of her graphics in The Beehive, I still thought that it was worth mentioning.
