Raymond Lam Pulls Out
Kenneth Ma Is No Good at Rap
Bosco Wong Comes in as the Replacement and sings Liar My Girl

In the recent years, TVB has been promoting their artistes to becoming singers. Even the Korean series that begins its broadcasting tonight,My Girl’s theme song was sung by Bosco Wong. Apparently, Raymond Lam and Kenneth Ma were the ones invited to do the recording, in the end, Bosco Wong was there, and only as a replacement.

In order to promote Raymond, who is good at both singing and dancing, TVB let him sing the Cantonese version of the theme song for Korean series My Girl. But apparently, Raymond had to pull out because he was sick and so Kenneth Ma was contacted to replace him. Unfortunately, the song was a rap, and after recording for two hours, he gave up because it was too hard to sing. And since “good water shouldn’t be given to other people’s fields,” TVB arranged for “their own buddy,” Bosco Wong to try out, and fortunately he had worked on a rap song before, the Wars of In-Laws theme song with Liza Wang, and was able to finish the song.

Bosco didn’t mind being a replacement for this song, “It’s very normal! Very often the company tells everyone to go for a trial, who doesn’t know how to sing? It might be that I’m more suitable for this song.” He admits that there was a degree of difficulty in the song, “There was some rapping required in the song. Some words were a bit tongue-tying, your pronunciation really had to be really clear.” He admits that he hopes to have his own album in the future, and would take singing lessons with a teacher if he had the time.

As to Kenneth Ma, he admitted that he did try out for the song, but rap songs didn’t suit him, “Bosco would definitely handle it better than me. To be honest, I don’t really like rap songs very much, I don’t normally listen to them either. That day I was called at last minute to try out, singing it as I read the lyrics. It didn’t take two hours, though. I don’t mind not being able to sing the song, but I hope to have my own songs in the future, it’d be more convenient that way if I were to perform onstage to make more money!”

The Beehive thanks ...
Fung's Label, Raymond's previous official website and its webmistress, Sasa, for providing so much of Raymond's news and information. Without FL, many of Raymond's fans would've been like little losties, without any clue as to where to find Raymond's news. FL kept us informed and updated for a total of 2 years. It officially closed on the 21st August 2006, but I would still always remember it.

52raymond.com, also known as the Lam House. It was my source of Raymond's media. The fans there updated new clips or songs of Raymond's very quickly. It was a brilliant forum, a true home to Raymond's fans. It officially closed on the 1st September 2006, but I would still always remember it.

Vickie. She's my beautiful Net friend with a strong command of the Chinese language and very frequently she helps me with translations. She's also excellent when it comes to graphics and even though I haven't actually used any of her graphics in The Beehive, I still thought that it was worth mentioning.
