Raymond Lam Takes off Shirt; Steals Ron Ng's Limelight in Concert

The "Our Century Concert" series opened at Hong Kong Coliseum yesterday, featuring star studded performances by Liza Wang Ming Chueng, Yip Lai Yee, Adam Cheung Siu Chau, Shirley Kwan, Miriam Yeung, Raymond Lam Fung, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei, Kevin Cheng, William So Wing Hong, Dave Wong Kit, Ng Wai Kwok, Lui On Na, Kate Tsui Tsi San, etc.

Raymond appeared sporting Korean superstar Rain's image, stealing much of Ron's limelight. Along with Kevin Cheng, Raymond and Ron performed alongside superstar singer Yip Lai Yee, whose voice far outshone the younger guys.

It was Raymond and Ron's first time performing at the renown HK Coliseum. Raymond and Ron appeared as guests in a fast dance performance. Raymond's black cap, black gloves, and black leather jacket is reminiscent of Rain's normal image. Raymond also took off his jacket to reveal his muscles!

Although Raymond and Ron's dance sequences were very good, their singing performances were lacking. While dancing and singing to 4 medleys, nearly half of the lyrics were slurred and inaudible. Yip Lai Yee sang the song "Star"《明星》with Raymond, Ron, and Kevin, but Yip's voice was the most outstanding.

Due to the flu, Liza Wang's voice was coarse and greeted the audience by saying, "Hello, I hope everyone is doing well tonight. But I'm not so great tonight, as I have a severe flu!" When Liza started singing, her voice cracked and she could not bite back her laughter. "So sorry!" Liza finished her song with difficulty and performed only one song for the night, instead of the originally intended 3 titles.

Afterwards the artists celebrated their first concert opening with champagne. When Raymond opened the champagne bottle, he accidentally sprayed it towards Fan Nei, who was wearing a low-cut top. Raymond hurriedly wiped the liquid off Fan's shoulders.

Raymond also denied that he was "possessed" by Rain during the concert performance. "My hair was long, so that's why I wore a cap." (How come Ron didn't take off his jacket while onstage?) Raymond said, "My jacket looked better than his!" Ron also joked, "I didn't feel hot at the time." (How come their voices were inaudible while singing?) Ron insisted, "Tonight there was a huge audience, with no empty seats. It absorbed all the sound."

There were also recent rumors that Miriam Yeung feels "lost" and due to insomnia, she has thought about retiring from the industry. In a radio interview yesterday, Miriam protested, "Of course not! I can only 'retire' a few days and take a vacation in Japan! No one can cut off my money-earning opportunities! Many artists suffer from insomnia! Thanks everyone for their interest. If it's not for public interest, then the media wouldn't write about me. I would certainly hit a dead end then!"

The Beehive thanks ...
Fung's Label, Raymond's previous official website and its webmistress, Sasa, for providing so much of Raymond's news and information. Without FL, many of Raymond's fans would've been like little losties, without any clue as to where to find Raymond's news. FL kept us informed and updated for a total of 2 years. It officially closed on the 21st August 2006, but I would still always remember it.

52raymond.com, also known as the Lam House. It was my source of Raymond's media. The fans there updated new clips or songs of Raymond's very quickly. It was a brilliant forum, a true home to Raymond's fans. It officially closed on the 1st September 2006, but I would still always remember it.

Vickie. She's my beautiful Net friend with a strong command of the Chinese language and very frequently she helps me with translations. She's also excellent when it comes to graphics and even though I haven't actually used any of her graphics in The Beehive, I still thought that it was worth mentioning.
